Our Twelfth Step states: “Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.” The Westside Central Office (WCO) offers many service opportunities for A.A. members and groups to help other alcoholics.
Volunteer Your Time
Do you like talking on the phone and helping people? Volunteers are needed to answer the Westside Central Office (WCO) phone, day and night. Phone shifts last about 2 hours.
Would you like to meet new people and go to different meetings? You could join the Outreach Committee and set your own schedule.
How about going out on a 12th Step call? You could be added to the WCO 12th Step list.
Whatever your interest or availability, there is something you can do at the WCO. A complete list of service committees that you can get involved with is available here. Contact us or stop by our monthly business meeting to learn how you can get involved with the WCO.
Become a Central Office Representative
We hope that you and your group consider electing a Central Office Represenative (CO Rep). A CO Rep serves as the liaison between the A.A. Group and the Westside Central Office (WCO). CO Reps attend the WCO monthly business meeting, vote their group’s conscience on Central Office Business matters, and share information between the group, the WCO, and other participating groups. As Tradition one reminds us, without unity there is no recovery. Groups that stay connected with other groups through cooperation and participation at the Central Office/Intergroup, District, and Area levels fully practice this tradition. By electing a CO Rep, your group not only helps the Central Office help the alcoholic who still suffers, but your group also creates another service position for a home group member. After your group elects a Co Rep, please let the WCO know by completing a group Registration Form.
Register Your Group
If your group is not ready to elect a Central Office Representative (CO Rep), then consider registering your group anyway. You can provide a group contact person, known as a “Mail Contact”, and indicate if your group would like to be listed in the WCO meeting directory. To register your group, simply download the WCO Registration Form, fill it out, and return it to us either by mail (Westside Central Office, PO BOX 19911, Portland, OR 97280-0911) or deliver it in person to a WCO Business meeting.
Make a Financial Contribution
The Westside Central Office (WCO) is funded exclusively by the voluntary contributions of A.A. groups and members. Besides contributing time and energy to the WCO, A.A. groups and members may also make a Seventh Tradition financial contribution. To do so, please complete our Contribution Form and submit it along with a check or money order payable to the Westside Central Office. You can mail the check and form to us, or deliver it in person to a WCO Business meeting. You may also make an online donation by clicking on the Donate button below:
WCO is classified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a public charity under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) 501(c)(3). WCO’s Federal Tax ID is 27-3639288. All or part of your financial contribution may be tax deductible as a charitable contribution. Please check with your tax advisor.
